Tallow - Deodorized
Tallow - Deodorized
It's important to note that some people may choose not to use tallow due to personal or ethical reasons, as it is an animal-derived product. In such cases, there are various plant-based alternatives available.
The tallow we sell is a refined, deodorized baking tallow supplied by a Canadian food oil provider. As is typical for products in the food industry, it includes commonly used food preservatives.

Using Tallow in cold process soap making offers several benefits:
Hardness and Longevity: Tallow contributes to the hardness of soap, making it long-lasting and durable. This means your soap bar will hold its shape well and won't dissolve quickly.
Creamy Lather: Tallow soap tends to produce a creamy and stable lather. The lather is often described as rich and luxurious, providing a smooth and pleasant feel.
Moisturizing Properties: Tallow contains a blend of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids that can be beneficial for the skin. These fats help to moisturize and nourish the skin, helping leave it feeling soft and hydrated. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with dry or sensitive skin.
Hardness: Tallow contributes to the hardness of the soap bar. A harder soap bar tends to last longer and withstands moisture better, leading to a more durable product.
Historical Significance: For those interested in traditional or historical soap making, tallow has been a staple ingredient for centuries. Using tallow in soap making can be a nod to traditional methods and recipes.
Cost-Effective: Tallow is often more cost-effective than some specialty oils, making it an economical choice for soap makers, especially when crafting large batches.

I have used this before, but wasn't sure about purchasing again given the negative review. If there was an issue with previous batches, it has been addressed. The tallow I received is pure white, thick and consistent in texture. It soaps perfectly. Happy to have this available for CP when I'm unable to get it from local ranchers.
Tallow should be hard and waxy, it should not look like stirred up shortening with pieces of stearic in it... the Tallow I use to order before was hard all the way through and i would cut it up into blocks, or use a spoon to scrape and cut into the tallow --- the last tallow I purchased is soft with pieces of hard stearic like substance in it.... what a shame, something has happened and even though i've informed Voyageur of this issue, they will not listen to the truth of the product I've received and the difference in texture.... it does affect the soap I have made with it.... the soap is softer...something is wrong with this product.... it is not the same..... TALLOW should be hard all the way throughout the box, not tiny pieces of hardness here and there.... something is WRONG and Voyageur should really look into the matter. I will not purchase Tallow from you because of this issue and I use to always purchase my tallow from you....
Tallow is rich in Oleic Acid, Palmitic Acid, other nutrients and vitamins such as A, D, E & K. I created several whipped body butters, which were deeply moisturising and healing to dry skin. I love using Voyageur tallow because of the price and quality, but also it has the ability to replenish lost moisture and stop additional TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss) from the skin. Tallow is a must have ingredient if you want gorgeous body butter with super moisturising and hydrating benefit.
Created body butters with tallow and the end products were deeply moisturizing and hydrating, and healing to dry, chapped skin and body parts. Thanks Voyageur.
