Using Ecosoya Container Blend Advanced Soy Wax Melt point = 111° F (37.8° C)
- Heat soy wax and remove from heat source.
- Add essential oil. Recommended maximum scent load is about 10%. To minimize scent loss, add scent prior to pouring but at a wax temperature no less than 135°F (57.2°C). Accommodate for temperature drop due to the addition of the cooler scent when targeting the pour temperature. Some scents may react poorly causing bleed, objectionable frosting, or poor flame quality, so you may need to experiment.
- Stir while cooling.
- Pour into wicked container. Pour temperatures will vary according to container type and size, fragrance and dye, and the effects you want to achieve. CB-Advanced Soy can be poured as low as 100° F (37.8° C) if the wax is kept in motion (constant mixing) until poured. Large jars above 8 oz (237 ml) cool slower and require lower pour temperatures, about 125°F (51.7°C). Candles less than 8 oz (237 ml) and metal/tin containers cool fast, requiring a higher pour temperature of about 155°F (68.3°C).
Soy Wax Troubleshooting |
Fragrance oil leeching out of the soy wax
|
You may have added too much fragrance oil (we recommended max 10% by weight), or your fragrance oil was not added at the correct temperature (if the temperature is too low the wax molecules are not expanded enough to trap the fragrance oil between them as they cool). |
Soy wax isn't sticking to glass (wet spots)
|
Your wax may have been poured too hot. (Wax shrinks as it cools, and the hotter it is poured, the more it shrinks.) Or the inside of the glass container wasn’t clean. Also, the manufacturer does not recommend preheating your containers before pouring. |
Candles are turning frosty |
Wax poured too hot (always pour soy wax at the coolest possible temperature). 100% soy wax has a tendency to frost more than soy blends. |
Rough tops after pouring
|
Wax poured too hot (always pour soy wax at the coolest possible temperature). 100% soy wax has a tendency to have rougher tops than soy blends.
